Psychiatric Services with Medication Management
Treatment at Avery’s House includes a thorough evaluation by a qualified psychiatrist, who will recommend medication for teens who need it, tailoring and monitoring regimens to optimize outcomes.
Stay involved in your child’s healing journey
Studies consistently demonstrate that teens experience better recovery outcomes, including fewer behavioral problems and improved overall well-being, when parents actively participate in their treatment. The positive impact of parent participation is clear and compelling, making it an indispensable element of effective adolescent care.
Avery’s House therefore includes the following parent involvement in its treatment plans:
- Weekly visitation: Parents are invited to visit their child for two hours every Sunday.
- Family therapy sessions: Parents participate in weekly family therapy sessions with their child and their therapist.
- Parent support group: Parents are required to join a weekly parent support group to gain essential tools for supporting their child.
- Weekly phone calls: Teens in our program can call home up to three times a week on scheduled nights, which helps keep family connections strong during the program.

FAQs
- What type of therapy do you do? We employ only evidence-based therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectal behavior therapy (DBT).
- Do you offer trauma therapy? All our care is trauma informed. We also offer trauma therapy based on individual client needs.
- Is Avery’s House coed? We house both male and female adolescents. While living spaces are single sex, therapeutic groups are coed. We focus on teaching adolescents how to cohabitate appropriately and respectfully.
- What do you do about school? If possible, we try to work with the client’s current school. Many kids who come to Avery’s house are struggling in school and need to catch up; others find school very important and are committed to staying on track. We have set hours every day for schooling, when staff are available to provide one-on-one help with schoolwork. This ensures residents progress academically.
- What does life after Avery’s House look like? Prior to discharge, we start planning aftercare with the client and their family. We offer ongoing virtual and in-person outpatient services to support the transition.
- Whom do I contact with billing questions? Upon admission, you will receive a financial agreement that outlines all costs. This agreement will include phone numbers for both our billing director and controllers.
